Permanent quarantine

April 11, 2020 by Mike Cohen

I know for most of you, life has been really different over the last couple weeks.  For me, it’s not too different. Besides my camper being stored up in Ventura County, impatiently waiting for me to come back up and get back on the road, I am living out of a duffel bag. Which isn’t too different from what I was doing when I was cycling across the US during October - November. I fell (SO HARD) in love with being on the road in a camper as my home.

I am at my parents’ house with my mom, dad, Danny and Lincoln. That part is amazing. Spending time with them, is so special and I know I am grateful for it. I’ve recently and intentionally chose a life that keeps me on my own for a while. Spending some time with myself, the outdoors and my thoughts. One of those thoughts is, how safe I currently feel.

The more people I see complying with the constant changing requirements to be in public, it makes me feel so much better being in public as well. Sure my risk of getting the Coronavirus might be higher even with the proper protection, but with a good majority of people covering their faces and protecting themselves, they are also protecting from their colds, their strep throats, their pneumonias, their flus, anything that could be considered viral.

So for those of you who are adapting to this quarantine, be grateful that at some point you’ll be able to leave it. Unfortunately for me, it’s a permanent quarantine.

In no way am I complaining, I’m grateful for these precautions that have been consistent in my own life and now that most of you will be living in a similar fashion as I am. All in all, it keeps people in situations like myself and others who lived with a compromised immunity, safer.
